As a Human Resources Generalist, I have a variety of responsibilities: Recruiting, new-hire onboarding, benefits administration, enforcing Dubow policies and procedures, event planning and employee relations as necessary, to name a few.
In HR, you don’t always get to plan out your day because there are 200+ employees who plan it for you based on their needs. I enjoy the administrative duties of my job, but the unknown is the most exciting part for me – mostly because it is an opportunity to learn a new lesson or gain exposure to a new situation.
I worked with Dubow’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Karen Schmidt, at a previous job. She recruited me in February of 2020, shortly after she started at Dubow. Karen led me to a company, a work family and a future that I look forward to showing up for, every single day.
I love the opportunity to work with people every day; whether that’s the applicants I’m interviewing, our current employees, my own team or our amazing leadership and management team…they keep me interested in the work I do.
Yes, I will be able to participate in multiple trainings from the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership grant, which I am excited about. Dubow is ever changing, but always gives their employees the opportunity to enhance their skills and advance in their careers, if they choose to do so.
For example, Dubow has invested in my continuing studies to receive an HR certification that I am currently working towards. I am very grateful for the opportunity to acquire knowledge and cultivate my skills, and to use what I have learned in my career. Karen, Rob and many others at Dubow have helped me see my potential and I am appreciative of the encouragement they have shown me over the course of my time at Dubow. .
Specifically, I am proud of some process improvements that have saved our department a lot of time. For example, converting certain paper processes to electronic forms, automating benefit information for our new hires, and updates within our newsletter.
Production facilities can be a challenging work environment, but Dubow is unique. We are a family-run facility where quality is everyone’s job. We hire quality employees who take pride in the quality products we send out to our customers. In addition, our management team is second to none – they genuinely care for our employees and want to see everyone succeed.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love to travel and explore new places. In addition, I enjoy antiquing, live music, playing cards and board games. A newfound hobby of mine is playing pickleball!
